Jaco Beach is a very popular lively tourist destination located on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Although it may not be the most beautiful beach in Costa Rica, the town of Jaco has a lot of other things to offer that attracts a huge number of international and local tourists alike. It is known mostly as a surfing haven and for its extensive and exciting nightlife. Jaco Beach is also a great place for other water activities, such as kayaking, fishing, and jet skiing.
Some of the other popular things to do in Jaco Beach include taking a guided ATV tour, visiting the neighboring Playa Hermosa beach which is the most popular surfing spot in the country, and visiting the Carara National Park to see exotic wildlife such as scarlet macaws and crocodiles. Playa Hermosa is the only beach in Costa Rica to be named a World Surfing Reserve, so for any surfers out there this beach is a must-visit in Costa Rica.
In addition to outdoor activities, Jaco Beach offers plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops to keep visitors entertained. The energetic town is especially known for its vibrant nightlife, with many clubs and bars that stay open until the early hours of the morning.
Local’s tip:
Jaco is one of the best beach towns in the country for partying, but not every bar and club is good. In Jaco each day of the week there is a specific bar or club that is the top choice where most locals will go, and every day the bar of choice changes. If you want to find out the top club of the night ask the locals around town for the info.
