Nosara is a beach town located on the southern part of the province of Guanacaste in Costa Rica, known for its long and beautiful beach, lush forests, and laid-back lifestyle. The town is situated in the province of Guanacaste and is part of the Nicoya Peninsula, a region known for its natural beauty and biodiversity. The town of Nosara is popular among tourists and expats who are looking for a quieter and more natural environment compared to the more crowded and developed beach towns in the country.
The town is surrounded by protected areas, including the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge, where Olive Ridley sea turtles come to nest and hatch their eggs, and the Nosara Biological Reserve, a private reserve that is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including howler monkeys, jaguars, and armadillos.
Despite its popularity, Nosara has managed to maintain its small-town charm and slow pace of life. The town has a vibrant community of locals and expats who are passionate about preserving the environment and promoting sustainable tourism.
Local’s tip:
I would recommend to plan a trip and also visit Ostional and Samara. Ostional is like a short 15 minute drive from Nosara and Samara is only one hour away. Ostional is famous for being the house of the massive Olive Ridley sea turtle nesting season and Samara is a laid back beautiful beach town famous for surfing.
